Questions renters actually ask
Where does it work?
Anywhere in the lower 48 states with a reasonably clear view of the sky, which is most of them. The dish needs to see satellites, so heavy tree cover is the usual problem, not how remote you are. We ship to all 48 and pay the return trip too.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The dish sits on its tripod, plugs in, and does the rest. The kit broadcasts its own WiFi network; you join it and sign in with the last four digits of the phone number on the reservation, or the reservation email. There is no router to configure and no account to create.
When will it arrive?
Every kit ships to arrive before your rental start date, which leaves you time to unpack and test it before the trip. Tracking shows up on your order page as soon as the label is bought. If your dates are close, overnight shipping is quoted live at checkout.
Is the data unlimited?
No, and we would rather be straight about it: data is metered. You choose a plan sized to the trip at booking. If you hit the cap, the open internet pauses, messaging keeps working, and the kit's own page stays up so you can top up in one tap. Anything over the allowance bills after the kit comes back, at the per-GB rate shown before you paid.
What does shipping cost?
One round-trip charge covers both directions. It is priced to your address and shown on your order before you pay. The prepaid return label is already with the kit, so the trip back costs you nothing and the return goes into any FedEx drop box.
What if my trip runs long?
Extend it, either from your order page or from the kit's own dashboard, at the same daily rate, as long as the kit is free after your dates. If the return has not been scanned by the day your rental ends, a late fee applies for each extra day (days carriers are closed, Sundays and federal holidays, are not charged), so extending is always the cheaper move.
How does the return work?
The prepaid return label travels with the kit. Pack everything back into the reusable bag the way it arrived, stick the label on, and drop the bag at any FedEx drop box near you. Your deposit refunds after the kit checks in.
Can I use it outside the US?
Yes, at a different data rate. The booking widget asks where the kit will be used and prices international use per GB accordingly. Declare honestly: the rate that applies follows that answer.
What does the deposit cover?
It is charged at checkout, worth half the equipment rental, and refunded after return and inspection. Data overages and damage settle from it first. A kit that never comes home is billed at its replacement value, which is the real retail cost of the hardware, not a made-up penalty.
Does the dish need a lot of power?
It runs from an ordinary outlet or a rented power station. The power station is available as an add-on on the kit page, and on its own for pickup in the Denver area.
Can I pick it up instead of shipping?
Yes. Pickup and return in Denver is one of the checkout options, with windows you choose. Shipping just leads on this site because it is what serves a trip anywhere in the lower 48; both work.
Who is behind this?
Rent A Starlink is run by WiFi Without Walls LLC, the team that rents Starlink and event WiFi kits across the lower 48. Same warehouse, same fleet, same phone number: (303) 946-3311.
